## 1. Introduction

**AssetMaster** is a complete Fixed Asset Management System. It allows organizations to track physical assets, manage their lifecycle, compute depreciation schedules, and generate detailed reports. By maintaining an accurate register, it ensures better accountability and financial tracking.

---

## 2. Getting Started: The Dashboard

Upon logging in, you will be greeted by the **Dashboard**. This is the control center for your entire asset inventory.

### Key Dashboard Metrics:
* **Total Assets:** A quick count of all assets currently registered in the system.
* **Total Value:** The sum of all asset values (or book values) in your organization.
* **Assets Requiring Attention:** Alerts for assets that are fully depreciated, undergoing maintenance, or require repairs.
* **Recent Activity:** A summary of recent asset additions, location changes, or depreciation runs.

> [!TIP]
> The "Assets Requiring Attention" metric is clickable! Clicking it will instantly filter your asset list to show only the assets that are fully depreciated or under repair.

## 3. Asset Management

The core of AssetMaster revolves around managing your physical items.

### Adding a New Asset
To register a new physical asset (such as a laptop, desk, or vehicle):
1. Navigate to **Assets** in the main sidebar.
2. Click the **Create New Asset** button.
3. Fill in the required form fields:
    * **Name & Identification:** Asset Name, Tag/Barcode, and Serial Number.
    * **Categorization:** Select the appropriate Category, Department, and Location.
    * **Financial Details:** Enter the Purchase Price, Purchase Date, Salvage Value, and Expected Life.
4. **Save** the record. The system will automatically compute its current book value and set up the initial depreciation schedule if applicable.

### Viewing and Managing Assets
* **Index View:** The `Assets` list allows you to search, filter, and sort your inventory.
* **Detailed View:** Clicking into a specific asset allows you to view its full history, including printed vouchers if applicable.

### Asset Movements & Services
* **Movements:** Track when an asset changes hands or locations. This ensures an unbroken chain of custody.
* **Services:** Log maintenance or repair events to keep a history of upkeep costs and service records.

---

## 4. Depreciation Management

Keeping track of an asset's declining value over time is crucial for financial reporting.

### Processing Depreciation
AssetMaster features an automated and sequential depreciation processing module:
1. Navigate to the **Depreciation** section.
2. The system tracks items based on their defined **Depreciation Methods**.
3. It determines which assets are due for depreciation calculations up to the current date.
4. When you hit **Process**, the system will sequentially iterate through due periods and record the loss in value until the asset reaches its Salvage Value.

> [!IMPORTANT]
> The system is built with safeguards to prevent infinite processing loops and will stop depreciating an asset once its book value meets or drops below its defined salvage value.

### Depreciation Alerts
On your Dashboard and within the Notifications panel, you will find active alerts for **Upcoming & Overdue** depreciation items.
* Clicking the **Details** button on the notification opens a detailed breakdown where you can review affected categories, view specific assets needing attention, and initiate the depreciation process directly.

---

## 5. Reporting

The **Reports** module provides data analytics for audits and financial reviews.
1. Go to **Reports** in the sidebar.
2. Select the type of report you wish to run (e.g., Asset Inventory, Asset Valuation, or Depreciation Summary).
3. Apply necessary filters (by date range, category, or location).
4. Hit **Generate**.
5. Some views may allow for downloading PDF reports or printing directly from the system.

---

## 6. System Administration

Administrators are responsible for configuring the structural data of the organization.

### Categories & Departments
* **Categories:** Define the overarching groups (e.g., "Vehicles", "IT Equipment"). Useful for enforcing mass depreciation setups.
* **Departments:** Defines internal organizational boundaries to allocate assets correctly.

### Locations & Vendors
* **Locations:** Where assets reside physically (e.g., "Branch Office A", "Main Warehouse").
* **Vendors:** The suppliers from whom the assets were purchased. Maintaining this list helps tracking warranty and resupply sources.

### Users, Roles & Permissions
AssetMaster uses a secure Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) system.
1. Navigate to **Administration -> Roles / Permissions**.
2. **Roles:** Define job functions (Admin, Manager, Viewer).
3. **Permissions:** Assign specific actions (e.g., `create-asset`, `process-depreciation`) to Roles.
4. **Users:** Create staff profiles and assign them Roles to enforce security boundaries.

---

## Support & Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues while using AssetMaster:
1. Review the input data for errors (e.g., ensuring Purchase Price > Salvage Value for depreciation).
2. Check your assigned role permissions with the system administrator if a feature seems locked.
3. Ensure server caching is cleared if recent updates to the dashboard configurations or custom fields do not immediately appear.

> [!NOTE]
> AssetMaster is continually evolving. Be sure to check release notes on recent dashboard enhancements, including modern UI form transformations and custom voucher PDF templates!
